Great place, the farm shop with great variety of products fresh meat already seasoned meat. Reasonable prices , good quality of food. Restaurant stuff is super friendly , has a good size menu , delicious food, and drinks.
Can't fault the food it was very good however they need to look at their cleanliness, tables sticky and crockery dirty. We came here last year and complained about the very same thing, got an apology saying their washing machine was getting replaced thought we'd try again, don't think they have replaced it yet🤔 this is close to being a health and hygiene breach
We are regular customers here. The quality of both the in-house produce, and the range of products are wonderful. Excellent value for high quality goods. The cafe is excellent too!The outside Bothy also provides excellent quality burgers, sausage ( square and link ) bacon rolls too - the range of hot and cold drinks is excellent and all very reasonable in price
A very friendly place to visit and shop , staff are really helpful and informative . Haven't eaten in the restaurant but I'm assured by friends it's really good , the selection of meats and cheeses are excellent ( especially the steak ) the stir frys are my go to selection every time I visit , absolutely spot on . I do have one criticism tho and that's its a nightmare trying to keep my wife away from the chocolate counter with its artisan collection ( and price ) . Overall kilnford farm is a great place to treat yourself to a little something special
Came up on Google, a couple of instances so not just once, as dog friendly. Shop assistant rushed over shouting at us to leave, as dogs weren't allowed. Totally uncalled for behaviour. So no it's not dog friendly.
Waiter was dressed in casual clothing with jeans T-shirt and trainers whereas some of the other cafe staff were smartly dressed in Kilnford uniforms. Thought he was a member of public at first.Decor in the cafe is poor, with large cracks in the ceiling and walls, leaking roof windows, appear to be leaking over the food counter/till area.Very noisy and smelly environment. Grill/kitchens are in the same room as the guest seating with very poor extraction system meaning you walk out smelling like a meat smokehouse. Table conversations are difficult due to the noise from the kitchen equipment being in the same room. Inadequate toilets meaning had to que.Meats are good but breakfast was served without bread being sliced and no butter. The drink provided with the breakfast was notably smaller than those being purchased separately. Prices are questionable. Noted a milkshake was £4.95!? One of the breakfasts was served without the free tea/coffee as a diet cola was ordered but was charged.I use Kilnford for my regular food shop for which they are good. Apart from the milk which does not last till anywhere near its best before date and the lack of sugar availability in the shop.In simple a good shop for your every day foods and meats but would not recommend the cafe. There are better places to eat locally.
Update: we tried again but the staff in this place are just so rude, I certainly won’t be rushing back again. However the Bothy Burger shack place is very good and the staff in the shed are brilliant. This is definitely somewhere I would return to.Overall this place could be so much better of the staff would learn some manners.Sadly disappointed in our visit today for lunch. The soup was rotten, tasted like someone had poured a full bag of sugar in it. Not the standard we have been used too. Highlighted the issue with the server lassie who acknowledged the two near full bowls left, however not even a sorry or offer to deduct from the bill. We had drinks and a sandwich too which were really good. But £30 for two of us not to enjoy it leaves a worse tatse in my mouth than the soup did. Well actually not quite. Had I not been before and previously enjoyed our food this would have been a one star review for service and food quality. Certainly won't be rushing back.
This farm shop is by far one of the best! The butcher and deli counter are amazing. The pork chops and steaks are delicious. The range of meat and quality really is impressive. The packaged meals to cook at home are always in a good deal. They are adventurous and take the hard work out of cooking for you.Coming from Glasgow, we stock our freezer bags to the brim on visits to the in-laws. Highlight of our trip is a visit to this shop.
Kilnford is a great place to eat and shop the quality in both the restaurant and the butchery is first class and the specials good value . We'll done all
OMG, what brilliant farmshop. Tried one not too far away and was disappointed. That is not the same for Kilnford farm shop. The breakfast was to die for. The haggis was lovely and spicy.... very nice... then once full up popped to the same for provisions.... they have everything..... The bacon in the cafe was the best I had tasted, so got some of that..... thd sausages I've bought for tea.... can't wait. In all best farmshop around. Highly recommended.
Very poor choice of baked goodies in the cafe for a Saturday late morning. No cakes whatsoever, just a few traybakes, and mainly breakfast items. Decaff tea was nice. Service a bit remiss, items brought to table were literally plonked from tray to table, with no arrangement of who was having what. We were left to sort out cutlery, drinks and food between ourselves.
We were renting a cottage just around the corner, so walked in to have look around the farm shop and grab some lunch. We were thinking that the cafe would be a good advertisement for how nice the meat would be, and we would buy that after eating. We ordered a cheese burger, chips and some coleslaw to share. After a rather long time (and it wasnt that busy we had 3-4 empty tables around us), our foor arrived, the chips were under cooked, the burger burnt and VERY peppery. To say we were disappointed was a bit of understatement, the best thing on the plate was the coleslaw, the burger was truly awful.0
Loved the produce. Local meat, homemade pies, desserts. Also a lovely gift shop. Found some of my favourite Mrs Bridges Chilli Jam, Kilnford farm shop is one of the best places I've been to, their produce is first class.
What a great little find just alongside Dunfermline General Hospital. The shop has a great selection of quality products from haberdashery to butchery plus a wonderful café serving well cooked quality local produce and all served with a smile 😃 well-done!!!!
The variety of quality food is superb ,an outstanding farm shop in the area . The cafe is a must for lunch or afternoon tea and there is an outside burger van
This place is a little gem. We stopped on our long journey home from Scotland and had some lunch and a look around the shop. Lots of choice. Well worth a visit. The cafe was extremely busy and there was a long wait for tables. Food was great though.
Enjoyed it.We went in for a lunch one Friday and had Cajun Halloumi Wrap and Fish & Chips (pictured). Both were delicious, but especially the wrap. I thoroughly recommend it. Fish and chips were on specials board and I didn't see it on the main menu, so it could only be a Friday thing? The staff were working very hard as the place was very busy (people queuing, waiting for the tables kind of busy), but still were smiling, stopped for a chat, and even gave my wife a quick tour of the restaurant. The only thing I would personally like to see improved are the acoustics of the main sitting area. I don't know why it is (maybe it's the sloping ceiling) but it was very loud in there and it was difficult at times to hear what the person across the table was saying. Maybe some soft furnishings draped across the ceiling would help?Anyhow, we did enjoy our lunch and will definitely be back.Thanks.
A great location for a stop when travelling through Scotland. We decided to eat from the outside BBQ / grill.Burgers are great quality and very filling. It took about 15/20 mins to order, but it was lunch time and they had some big lunch orders in from the office nearby. Smelling the food I felt very hungry and ordered the meal deal with chips and a drink for £2.50 extra. You got loads of chips and I couldn’t eat them all.
The cafe was lovely! As a cricket team coming down from Glasgow we were able to pre order what breakfast rolls we wanted and the brilliant service team had reserved us a large table in the old stables so we could all sit together. The pile of empty plates at the end was testament to how tasty the food was!An absolute gem of a find with a large carpark.Walking through the farm shop several of our team were amazed at the wide selections of meats and vegetables that were on offer. Will definitely revisit when I am in the area again.Jim
