Marr Grange Farm Shop, located just outside Doncaster in the village of Marr, is a family-run establishment that has been serving the local community for decades. The farm has been in the Hardy family since 1936, and today, it continues to thrive under the care of Philip and Susan Hardy, along with their children.
The Farm Shop
The heart of Marr Grange is its farm shop, which offers a wide range of locally sourced products. The shop is renowned for its high-quality meats, particularly pork, which is reared directly on the farm. Alongside pork, the butchery also stocks beef, lamb, and chicken, all sourced from within a 60-mile radius to ensure freshness and support local farmers.
The shop also features an in-house bakery, where skilled bakers produce fresh bread, cakes, and pastries daily. The pantry section is stocked with a variety of local dairy products, preserves, and other essentials, all selected for their quality and local provenance.
Tea Rooms
Marr Grange is also home to a popular tea room, offering a welcoming atmosphere for breakfast, lunch, or afternoon tea. The menu is crafted using ingredients from the farm shop, including homemade sausages and bacon. The tea room is known for its hearty Full English Breakfast, as well as a selection of freshly made sandwiches, soups, and platters. Afternoon teas are a particular highlight, featuring homemade scones, cakes, and a choice of tea, coffee, or even Prosecco.
Community and Sustainability
Supporting the local community is a key mission for Marr Grange Farm Shop. They work closely with local farmers and suppliers, ensuring that everything sold is of the highest quality and sustainably sourced. The farm shop and tea room have become a beloved part of the local landscape, offering both a place to shop for fresh produce and a spot to relax and enjoy the countryside.
Fantastic produce in the shop at great prices and friendly helpful staff ⭐⭐⭐⭐However, we were a little disappointed by the cafe. Not a great ambience and whilst we were there, despite being quiet they couldn't get our order correct. They asked how we would like our eggs and I chose runny yokes and my wife requested hers hard yolk and flipped......mine came overcooked and my wife's was runny and not flipped. A minor hitch but what is the point of asking a customers preference if you can't delive. I did mention this to a member of staff but nothing was actually done. The other issue is the tea. I ordered Earl Grey but was given Darjeeling Earl Grey mix. Not the same at all.Smallish issues but the cafe is just not good enough to make us want to return.
Very top end I thought personally, however staff are friendly, we did purchase something, but it's a bit more on the pricey side for us. Tea room was too busy so can't say yay or nay on that
Nothing actually wrong with it but as a farm shop I had expected reasonable prices. The prices were akin to a high end gourmet grocery store. Nice change to go somewhere different but everything was marked up so high we didn't buy anything. First and last visit for us.
Absolutely amazing shop, everything I've ever had is top quality, the pies are the best around and the meat is so fresh. Had not been for a while up until last week, then came again on Saturday, you have to try it, great staff also who are very friendly, would highly recommend this place.
We found it by chance whilst out and about, fancying a pie for tea. It’s a nice little shop and the pie & peas we bought to take home were lovely. There was a lone sheep in the small field next to the car park, it seemed nice enough but had a funky eye which alarmed me. (This has not impacted the star rating FYI).
Not sure what's the hype? Starting with access, you got to squeeze through a narrow road turning off a busy road. Often blocked by incompetent drivers. Moving to the shop, nice atmosphere and staff hence two stars. I got four chicken breasts that cost me 11GBP! Only found out when paid, the price displayed per kg was different. On arrival home breasts were all smelling with a plastic wrapper. I also got sausages. I have cooked and fried many sausages but these had so much fat that it burned straight away, all went to the bin. For these prices to quality ratio, I won't be returning.
Been meaning to come here a while now, but just couldn't find the time until today.Farm shop looked great, prices not too expensive as a farm shop. Great friendly service and cleanCafe... Again friendly service and the food, wow. You can certainly taste the quality of the produce which makes it even more exciting when I get home as we bought quite a few thingsHighly recommend
