Similar to another lady. Requests made at online booking not adhered to. Very surly dark haired 50 plus lady barked at as on a couple of occasions, young staff doing their best. I had the beef stew which was watery, with no seasoning and a couple of slices of white bread to go with it was very average. Ordered a chai latte to receive a coffee. It was a bit too faulty towers with a barking leader. Not for us again.
Very disappointed. Had Sunday Lunch yesterday with our family. After having one of the best Christmas meals in December anywhere expected the same experience. Unfortunately the beef and lamb were not the best cuts, exasperated by the very poor knives provided, The staff however were excellent. Good service from lovely people.
Lovely place but poor service. Was seated and told they’d take our order before breakfast ended in 10 minutes. Then spent 10 minutes trying to every waiters attention to then be told they’d stopped serving breakfast and didn’t resume serving food again for another 30 minutes … but had been told the table was reserved in an hour meaning we’d have no time to order food if we waited for the food service to resume so had to get up and leave
I recently visited Newton Farm, and while the location is absolutely perfect and the ambiance is inviting, my experience was marred by incredibly poor service. We waited an excruciating 35 minutes for someone to clean our table and bring the cake we had ordered. Throughout that time, several staff members passed by us, completely ignoring our table. It was frustrating to see them actively cleaning tables for other customers while our dirty plates were left untouched. It’s disappointing that such a lovely place has such a glaring issue with service. I expected much better from a venue with such potential. I hope they can address these shortcomings, as it truly detracts from what could be a wonderful dining experience.
I arrived in my outdoor work clothes for a coffee and cake at about 12.20. I was completely ignored initially. I was then offered a table by the door away from the main café and given a menu, which was fine. However, after sitting for 10 minutes. I was then ignored again by a waitress who walked straight past me and took an order from a table beside me that had just walked in! I therefore walked out and went elsewhere. My first visit and it will be my last. Not impressed.
Really lovely visit to Newton farm today.Seated quickly, staff very accommodating. Ordered a mocha and a flat white with a coffee cake. both drinks had fantastic latte art on top, great stuff :)Then ordered a pulled pork roll, beef sandwhich and a side of chips and all really tasty, fresh ingredients and portion sizes perfect.Great experience, friendly staff, super clean and tidy, shop is also excellent and all the staff were so friendly in there too.
Disappointed after years of loving coming here. Brought family and friends after a wedding nearby. The initial drinks order was wrong, we’re not the type to say anything about that but then the breakfasts came out and we had bits missing from the plates and we ordered one veggie breakfast which came out with 2 slabs of bacon on it, no apology. Everyone commented on how strange the sausages were, like some zero fat, dry, crumbly protein sausage- weird, but the majority of the food was otherwise nice. We had a big group of us and asked if we could put the 2 tables near eachother, a lovely staff member said yes so we shuffled the tables which took a matter of seconds, only to have a rude female staff member come up to us when we were all just settling in enjoying all being together and say ‘you can’t do this I don’t have time to move these tables back after you leave so you’ve got to move back’ and scolded the other staff member for letting us- so insanely unprofessional, seemed like she was on such a power trip. They then spilt tea over our family members breakfast on the other table so that had to be replaced. The lovely staff member apologised to my dad on the way out- we had nothing against him but safe to say we won’t be back now. Ruined a lovely place for us to come.
Went for Sunday lunch and was really pleased with the food. I'm not sure what I expected from a Farm shop & cafe but the food was really incredible, really good portions (I could barely finish mine) and cosy atmosphere. Extra points for having a new litter of baby piglets outside that you can view which were so cute!
Very disappointed today.Having visited previously with no problems to be turned away today as we had a new baby in a small pram was unacceptable.3 empty unreserved tables inside but not room for the 3 adults and new baby, in a small pram.It was far too cold to put a new baby, only born 12 days ago and on his first outing, in the outside seating area.I'm sure if it'd been 3 adults with a wheelchair user we wouldn't have been turned away.Bad form.
Incredible value for money! Their meat is absolutely divine and worth every penny. They even sell Bath Buns! We recently decided to have a family breakfast which was tasty, affordable, piping hot and freshly made. The staff are warm, knowledgeable and friendly 🫶 It's become one of our favourite places to shop. Great value for money 💰
Lovely environment with an interesting and varied menu.Great communicative staff.Best to book.Note to staff - check your dishwasher. 2 dirty glasses rejected in the same visit.
Good food but pricey! No cheaper-end sandwiches etc. Also cafe closes at 4pm although shop not until 5pm. Go figure! Why do so many places in England close so early? You've got tourists looking to spend their cash... Had same experience in Bradford on Avon! People wanderinc about dedpeeately looking gor somewhere open padt four in the afternoon😂😂😂.
I’ve been going every week for many years with family and friends, to Newton Saint Loe Cafe, but last Saturday I was extremely disappointed. I asked for a Greek salad and what I was given looked like it leftovers from other peoples plates and definitely was not made fresh that day the tomatoes were really old slimy and tasteless The whole meal just look completely off putting,I couldn’t eat it and when I complained I was still charged for it 🤢
We have been to Newton Farm for food many times and I've always been very pleased with our meals.Unfortunately yesterday when we went for Sunday lunch we had a bad experience.Upon arrival for our 3pm table we were told off by the hostess as we had brought a pram with us. We did state this in the comments when we booked the table online. Apparently we should have booked for an extra person. It was easily resolved as there was a spare table near the entrance that I suggested went on.When we were seated we were given our menus. After a short period we were asked for our drinks orders. But when they came back to get our food order they told us that two of the four meats were not available. Pork and beef were sold out. So the only options we had as meat eaters were chicken and lamb.We asked if we could have chicken with a few slices of lamb but this was impossible. We asked if we could have been notified before we arrived that 50% of the meat they offered had been sold but this was impossible. After choosing our meats from the limited menu, we were then told that half the sides were sold out too. From the moment we arrived we felt unwelcome and our server did not want to help the situation in the slightest. No after no after no.The food came and it was nice but the portions were smaller than we were used too. Maybe order more food to start with. Piss poor planning.Overall very disappointing. Won't be going back after many years of visiting.
Called in for lunch on our way to Bath. All staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, the newton farm burger cooked to perfection and the pulled pork bowl with beautiful fat chunky chips was as good. We were even given a box to take home what we couldn’t manage to finish. The little shop was delightful, we bought some reduced rolls (which were as fresh 2 days later) and some very tasty strawberries.Would certainly recommend calling in if you are in the area.
Newton Farm Cafe and Restaurant Bath UK. It’s very popular place even far from town. I've been here many times after walking through the beautiful landscape of Bath Spa University at Newton Park campus. We always had lovely meals and a lovely time here at Newton Farm cafe/ restaurant. Organic ingredients from their farm. Beautiful location, delicious food and a proper coffee. Excellent friendly service from everyone members. I love this place and highly recommend it to everyone!See you again soon.
Lovely food. Nice shop too if a little small at the detriment to the range of goods on offer.Animals are pleasant to see and the bird sanctuary is ace for the smalls.
After a long walk, it was lovely to come across this beautiful farmshop and cafe. Although we only had an oat milk chai latte the food menu looked great. Lots of local produce. We'll definitely try out the lunch menu. Lots of nice options for breakfast or brunch. All the staff were smart and well mannered and obviously enjoyed working in a lovely local family business.
I’ve moved to the area just over 2 years ago and me and my family have absolutely loved it specially all the local produces from the local farm.Saturday was our 6th visit here. I have young children 2 and 6 and they absolutely love it with the animals and play area! However this Saturday was extremely disappointing with the customer service! In particular and I was angry with the way a member of staff had behaved with my children and my friend’s child! Shouting at them rudely for no reason when clearly there was an adult with them who she could have speak to nicely!Children learn behaviour from adults around their surroundings! Clearly if she doesn’t like children she should not be doing this job.I have never had this kind of interaction with anyone before specially at Newton Farm and cafe as it’s such a child friendly place. I have also noticed other comments about this behaviour and one even said apparently it’s the manager! And if it is I am absolutely appalled!
NEVER TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE !!!! We’ve never experienced someone so rude in the service industry, the server shouted at our child for standing up and also about the position of our pram even tho the tables around us where completely empty ( not surprised ) but what shocked us most was when we brought this up when paying the bill we where told it was the MANAGER, and they get complaints about her all the time. The staff member we spoke to said she was embarrassed by the amount of complaints they get and how she is rude to her staff also. She is a power hungry individual who is completely inadequate as a manager and I can see why her staff where quick to bad mouth her. I wouldn’t come back to this place if she paid me. And I will be letting everyone else in know how awful this place is. If this was my business i would get rid of her immediately as she has already lost 8 customers this week who will never return.
Amazing place. Lovely Breakfast and great coffee, staff are really friendly. Farm shop is brilliant so many delicious things to temp you. Can't wait to come back again
The food has been dumbed-down and overpriced to the point where it's no longer worth eating here. The menus are very limited, and service is generally appalling. The owners have clearly succumbed to greed as they have destroyed the views in an attempt to fit more people in, and are employing miserable, untrained staff. Ten years ago it was fantastic - especially the doorstep sandwiches. There are far better options locally now, like Flourish and Kelston Soft Cheese - where portions are generous, reasonably-priced and created with finesse.
A lovely lunch in a lovely setting! Service was friendly and prompt...and there were piglets in the farm garden area. I've already recommended to friends 🙂
A lovely lunch in pleasant surroundings. Good selection on menu that has plenty of choice and variety, but didn't seem overloaded. Excellent food, although might have expected larger portions. Wasn't too impressed with the treacle tart which was very dry and untreacly, came with the tiniest dab of cream and dusting of something said to be honeycomb. Great atmosphere and clean, homely eating space. Would love to go again.Shop also had plenty of variety, from gifts to basic (and exclusive) cooking ingredients. The perfect place to visit from Bath Spa University too!
Amazing food and lovely atmosphere, however drinks are quite overpriced for what they are and after finishing our meals we waited for 30 minutes and our plates were never cleared despite other tables plates being cleared around us. Items in the farm shop were also suspicious as some food items still had christmas themed packaging
Fantastic Farm Shop with wonderful products.Farm animals to view.Ample parking. We had Sunday lunch there today (3rd March). The staff are warm and welcoming. The food is delicious, piping hot and plentiful.Service was excellent. We saw quite a few people choosing the Burger, which looked great. We highly recommend that you visit and have a meal here.
Overall a nice experience but a few niggles.1•drinks-asked for latte but got a cappuccino. Man did offer to change but said the only difference was that cappuccino had chocolate. Obviously he doesn’t know his coffee. I kept the latte and it was nice.2•the food-one meal was excellent (the belly pork flat bread yummy) & the chips were fat and crispy if a little expensive but the rarebit was dreadful. Soggy bread and undercooked cheese. I should’ve complained at the time but as no one came around in the time we were there and the attitude of the man who delivered the coffees made me think Nothing would come of it if I did.Overall I would come again and have the flat bread but definitely not the cheese rarebit
Today I met up with a friend I hadn't seen in a while, along with her toddler. Unfortunately, our experience at the cafe was less than satisfactory. It took a total of 1.5 hours from the moment we arrived for us to receive our food, which felt even longer with a 2-year-old in a high-chair. The service lacked check-backs, offers for additional drinks and table clearing. Additionally, the quality of the food was very average. When I mentioned my dislike for coriander and parsley to the waitress during the order, she dismissed it, stating that she was only asking about allergies. This made me feel like my dislikes didn't matter unless they were allergies. Overall, the poor service significantly dampened what should have been a pleasant catch-up with my friend.
Sunday LunchWow, stuffed, amazing, great value for money. All the meats were cooked to perfection and plentiful. Vegetables also in good portions. Separate pot of gravy is a big bonus.I had the beef and pork combo and it nearly beat me.Great staff, always a warm welcome.
Very disappointing expensive experience!! Surly waitress, everything seemed an effort. Food cold and tasteless, the lentil and veg stew was disgusting plate of sludge served with two anaemic "toasted" slices of bread, soup was not very appetising either. Will I be revisiting, doubt it very much ...overpriced sub standard food.
Five stars for before Christmas visit for lunch. Food was good, Service top quality. But four stars for return post Christmas where prices appear hiked. Visited again in Spring, Coffee average, if I'm paying a premium price would have expected better.Easy to park, although can be muddy if wet, Excellent farm shop with own butchers. Cute piglets.
A very good Sunday lunch - ample servings and very nicely presented. The vegetables, gravy and Yorkshire pudding were great. We'll definitely come back to try the other menu items - be sure to book in advance.
This must have been one of the best roast lunches we've had at a restaurant. Everything was delicious and the service impeccable. It's also good value compared to other places, with many of the ingredients sourced locally. Thank you to the team :).
What a lovely find, tucked away off the main road. Interesting array of local produce and fantastic selection of meat. Bought the bbq marinated ribs and the family devoured them. There’s some lovely farm animals to greet as well
Fantastic food and drink that can be enjoyed inside or outdoors in a lovely atmosphere. Nice little play area for children next to outdoor seating for the cafe. Lovely farm and gift shop.Brilliant to see happy piglets and mums, plus some goats too. The falconry centre is excellent as well with good enclosures for the birds and an enjoyable display show.Highly recommended.
