We've been going to the Hollies for many years for the odd overpriced deli item as a "treat".We've just called in for a coffee as another "treat" on the way back from a weekend away. First off, the price! £4.20 for a flat white and £4:90 for a mocha take-away! Seriously expensive, especially compared to similar places we go to in the area and even in the Cotswolds where we had just been.To annoy us even more (than the price!), both coffees were undrinkable! Not just tasteless, they tasted terrible and ended up being binned straight away.Your average Google review scores is still quite decent, please improve your quality, service and value before you get a bad reputation. Also, dog's not allowed :(We're in no hurry to return... even for a deli treat!
The shopping experience is discouraging because the customers, on the whole, possess an arrogant and holier-than-thou attitude, about which the managers can do nothing. Otherwise, this is a superb place to go shopping. The quality is outstanding and the prices are reasonable. Well done to the Hollies staff and managers, I say!
Great fresh produce and veg, an excellent butchery for fresh meat, a wide selection of cheese, pies and cooked meats. Plenty of choice of pre-made Cook meals, plus deserts and treats. Excellent service too, staff are always helpful and great representatives of an excellent organisation.Christmas meat order from the Butchery was also superb.
Slightly on the expensive side but good items and produce you get what you pay for, knocked a star because I was disappointed in the coffee shop buns were dry and the coffee was weak.
Served by a lady with blonde hair and a pink jumper who's understanding of basic food hygiene left a lots to be desired. She cofted and sneezed on the food and into her hand, wiping her nose on the back of her hand. Put me off visiting again.
Visited here today and was appalled, I have no idea how they are so popular. You arrive and there is a queue out the door with no staff or signs instructing you what to do. We had to go in and ask the process. You seat yourself then go back outside to queue to order food, which is rubbish as someone has to stay at the table so you’re separated for min 20 min whilst queuing. How on earth are people meant to know this? You would assume the queue is to be seated! No menus till you’re close to ordering and you can’t see them when walking in as the queue covers them, so it’s a big faff figuring out what the person staying at the table wants to order as there’s no menus at the table. You order and get a buzzer for food, and have to queue again to collect any hot drinks.Food comes in brown bag, ciabatta wrapped in foil and chips in a paper bag, no cutlery or condiments, you have to ask for them and get wooden disposable cutlery.Drinks are in a paper cup, how can you charge almost £6 for a hot chocolate in a paper cup. Food was rubbish, oven chips and a flavourless ciabatta. Dry tasteless cakes defo not freshly baked. You have to clear table yourself into a wheelie bin in the middle of the cafe which unfortunately we had to sit by. So unhygienic and disgusting.I don’t know how this place is running (it’s because mollie mae posted it) no staff except for those serving and overran. It’s genuinely like a McDonald’s that looks instagramable. Although even maccies offer table service. Wasn’t worth the drive or money.
We’ve been going to The Hollies for many years now. We used to love the place, always buy some nice things and food however… since it’s grown in popularity so have the prices. We visited this week and left disappointed and empty handed, everything is so overpriced now and simply not worth it. It’s a shame as we used to go a few times a year, especially at Christmas but I wouldn’t rush back now.
Lovely afternoon here, the christmas house was amazing. We had food in the restaurant which was very busy, but we did not have to wait long for food and drinks which were both lovely. Staff were really pleasant. I'll definitely return again.
Disappointing visit to the Hollies today ,wouldn't bother with the fast food counter again. One till running, order was taken wrong, and attempted to charge me £20.80 for one item. Nothing offered with food, no serviettes, salt /pepper. Used to be a cosy area to enjoy a coffee, that's now blocked off. Unattractive area, used food wrappers not disposed. Mistakes being made as staff obviously under pressure, left thinking I won't be visiting again, shame as I've been a regular customer for a long time. Food Hall looked great, and the flowers, but sadly the coffee shop visit was always part of the reason for going. Time to look elsewhere 😔
Our first visit here while staying locally. Why do these places have to charge so much for any thing. Eg. Shortbread biscuits, 4.50. The exact same ones in the local shop, 1.30. Why? Cafe selling tea and coffe in paper cups like a roadside trailer.Come on you greedy lot cut the price, sell more and at least get some proper cups. What a liberty.
First visit since we moved to Cheshire. Excellent shop with loads and loads of goodies. Had to restrain myself from purchasing too much but still managed to buy loads. A tad expensive but what the hell it's great to have a splurge especially as our new government wants us to be hermits and not enjoy ourselves
Maria from the friesian rooms was absolutely fantastic! There was a small problem with my food and despite me not minding she still gave me a free coffee, such a lovely girl and such a great credit to the hollies farm ☺️💕
This used to be something special but staff not great now, products whilst nice, very over priced and owners appear to be focussing on money rather than historic customer experience. Heard a few grumbles about similar issues . A shame.
Not a good experience. I agree with other reviews it's like a McDonald's experience but much more expensive. The staff look miserable and fed up.I go to their other shop restaurant at stretton and always get excellent service and food . Drinks in proper cups and waiter service with a smile . Won't be returning to Tarporley and would not recommend to my friends. But Stretton excellent.
Beautiful place ,some fantastic pieces of furniture, really unique, the food produce is fabulous and nice cafe.the staff really friendly and helpful well worth a visit, not to expensive
A lovely farm shop. More expensive than other farm shops I have been to. But this is an affluent area and so carers for that clientele .Ate in the cafe it was nice.Would call in again if passing by.
It's a such lovely place a good chose of food .but I think it could do more staff on the Restaurant counter it's was a bit busy Quite a big queue it put me off waiting a bit .
ordered a salad box today from the menu excluding the bacon, very disappointed with the standard of the ingredients as it seemed to consist of only couscous and halloumi and very little else
Awe I love it here too. A relaxing walk around, although can get busy busy. Bought from the shop and had a latte and icecream from the cafe. Can I recommend the pistachio ice cream, incredible. And those Diforti Cannoli any flavour amazing. Love the outside vibe too. Nice and relaxing. I feel that a nice water feature would go well near the seating area. Or maybe some outdoor speakers playing chilled sounds. Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic place with a brilliant range of produce, I have been coming here for years and used to live nearby. Some things can be pricey but the quality is always brilliant, you get what you pay for. Lovely fresh fruit and veg, great pork pies and bakery. Staff are always helpful and attentive, just a really great place.
Super range of foods, a butcher and ready meals, cakes desserts, confectionary, wines, beers, and pleasant outdoor coffee shopIt has a large gift shop and now a very large selection of good quality seasonal garden plants
This farm shop is amazing, has everything fresh...beautifully displayed, apples shine. Sausages rolls are delicious. Meat, fruit, everything 100% fresh. Can't wait to go again. Service was excellent, staff, so helpful and friendly. Large car park and easy to get to. Most definitely recommend. Wonderful place, barn with all different things you can buy, clothes, cards, candles, socks, pans, cups etc...please go and take a look. Beautiful place.
Poor quality food at top prices every time iv been the butchers here very disappointed sausages full of gristle and bone burgers tasteless and expensive£10 for an sausage/egg bap which was rank£3 burger vans do a better job this place needs lower prices or improve quality? Oh the frozen meals are rank too….
Might be award winning but didnt think the butchery warranted award status. Bought a mixture of steak, burgers and sausage for a family bbq. Everything well presented and the meat looked good however do suspect food colourings may be a factor. The burgers were actually tasteless, we purchased a variety. Sausages were mediocre. Bread was tasteless too. Shame the quality dies nit match the prices. Needless to say we wont be returning which is a shame as we intend to visit the area regularly.
Met my friend for lunch today, on arrival at the food counter there was someone ahead of us being served so had to wait to see the menus which were on the counter. we read menu and then ordered quite promptly. We both commented how dismissive and abrupt the lady was with us, no pleasantries, no smile, no thanks. We stepped to one side to wait for our coffee. We did comment to each other perhaps she's having a bad day ?It wasn't until the rather well dressed lady was served behind us that we noticed what a change in attitude. Couldn't do enough for her, smiling, welcoming, offering water, have a lovely day etc.Perhaps some training to demonstrate that all customers should be made welcome and not to be so selective on who to be pleasant or helpful to. Its not our first visit to your establishment and can say never have we been treated in this manner before. Really disappointed
We went for a birthday breakfast on Monday and they are still running it like covid style. No plates, knifes forks etc. Hot drinks in cups and only breakfast in form of bap. But still charging extortionate prices as though you had proper table service. Also the food, sausages bacon bread tasted awful. Was unfortunately not a nice experience. If you want to serve food wrapped in paper like macdonalds then charge cheap prices.
I'm so glad I came across this place. Its a really nice farm shop and great day out. I can wait to eventually try the restaurant on site, but every time I come the queue is out the door, so it must be good.
Stopped in to pick up some food. A good selection of produce e.g. butchers, baked goods, chilled, frozen etc. a decent selection of alcohols. The staff were helpful and polite. The place is a little out of the way, but you wouldn’t get the same anywhere close to a town or village.
Lovely place but it’s such a shame it’s not dog friendly! All other farm shops in the area are. Hollies used to be and I don’t know if something happened but it suddenly went extremely anti dog. I can’t even hold my dog who is very small even into the gift shop or barn without getting told to leave and she’s only in my arms. I think this is where there loss of custom must be, understanding they are very popular so won’t be a lot. But if there was a dog friendly section it would be perfect and bring so much more instead of having to keep out.
Great shop with good choice of products. Farm shop has some amazing items. Nice cafe with good coffee and a small but tasty menu. Only negative at 11.00 on a Wednesday morning it was just too busy.
Top class products and well displayed. Great choices in the food hall at a cost. Staff need to smile more. Disappointed with cappuccino as tasteless do not appreciate cardboard cups for coffee and cakes at these prices should be cups and crockery. Nice ambiance in the seating area. Currently got half price offers on the Christmas goodies.
The best farm shop I have been to. The food produce is excellent quality. The cafe has wonderful food and drink. Went in December and they had lovely Christmas decorations. Well worth a visit at any time of the year
We’ve been very disappointed by the farm shop over the last few months! Items that used to be well made and fresh have had a very noticeable quality change!- Cakes- Raspberry Trifle (I’ve never experienced soggy sponge and tasteless jelly before!!!)- Scones - they seemed like normal stale supermarket scones and didn’t warrant the price…Also… in this day and age why is everything is plastic packaging!Cafe is good and the staff are friendly which is the only saving point to this place!
Visited hollies farm shop - everywhere was so autumnal and magical. Such a lovely day out.We went into the cafe where the selection of cakes and luxurious drinks were never ending.Everything was amazing! 100% worth the trip - there were queues but they went down relatively fast.
