Great place to take the kids to see the animals, food is very good from the restaurant and the shop has a great variety of products, worth popping in and having a look.
Just love the place. Great butchers, great cakes staff always helpful. Good cafe ,and a good takeaway coffee from Oscars. Kids enjoyed looking around the animals.
Lovely farm shop been many time but this time we was meeting relatives for lunch very hit and miss food I find this when there are busy not really good enough tbh shame
We've visited the restaurant fairly often in the past few months but will probably start avoiding it. While the bacon and sausage baps are great, the service and attitude of the staff is pretty poor.Today our coffee was brought after we had finished food, and the coffee was delivered to the table with it spilled all over the saucer and tray. The waitress seemed surprised when we asked for napkins to clean it up or spoons to stir in the milk. When trying to pay, five members of staff behind the till ignored us for minutes, no "sorry we'll be with you in a minute" until we asked to pay, at which point they seemed annoyed that we'd even asked. This isn't a one off, and there's mistakes each time, like parts of orders being forgotten, staff ignoring tables, or slightly naive/rude service. There really needs to be some basic training of the restaurant staff of how to do customer service. It's not hard and makes a difference.
Brekky lovely. Coffee hot! Gentleman on deli counter was amazing today. Very helpful, patient, kind and took interest in what we were doing. That was just today! ALL your staff are usually amazing!! Thank you!
For a Friday lunchtime in November the restaurant was very busy.Food was served in a reasonable time and the staff were friendly and helpful.Food portion was large but the salad contained only a few lettuce leaves.I would go back but only after sampling other eateries to compare.
It’s brilliant - has pretty much everything you can think of, the outside areas also have lots to do for children and there is a wide selection of animals in the fields opposite which have been set up with pathways you can walk down in-between each field. The hot food is also absolutely brilliant. It is definitely worth a detour that’s for sure.
I love this farm shop for fresh meat from the Butchers counter. More expensive than supermarkets but you can certainly taste the difference and quality. We go here and but lots of different things. Their sausages are reasonably priced. Their restaurant on site is lovely and portions are bigger than average.
Eaten in the cafe many times and although the food is always delicious the service is terrible, very little coordination and long waits for food, it’s a pity they can’t put as much effort into the eating experience as they do into the produce. We will eat there again but be braced for a shambles
Stumbled across the farm whilst out on a morning dog walk while staying locally. Blown away by the amount on offer here. The staff we met were kind and attentive, products on offer were amazing. Lattes, breakfast and beer selection with second to none.Big shout out to Rich the Butcher who supplied our spaniel with free off cuts of meat for being cute 😂😂
Visited Greendale yesterday (Sunday 4th August) and popped into the shop to buy some local cherry cider. We couldn't find any on the shelves so we asked this lovely female shop assistant, who was beyond helpful, by checking to see if they had any in their stock out the back, and when there wasn't, she continued to go through all the stock on the shelves to try to find some for us. In fact we popped in again later the same day and she was still being so friendly and helpful. I wish we had known her name. She is a first class example as to how a shop assistant should be. Brilliant. Will be back again. The only downside side to the visit was the dreadful screeching coming from the fantasy festival outside. Ariel and Co definitely could not sing and at £40 a ticket for children, were ear defenders included in that price? .
Absolutely blown away! A farm shop with shelf’s filled with fresh meat and veg, an amazing menu in the restaurant that doesn’t leave your pockets dry but instead your taste buds on a high! Will definitely be visiting again!
Good fish and chips and a good selection of items. Prices seemed good as well. Many deals and offers to choose from.Attitude of staff in the restaurant wasn't great - hopefully not because they're paid badly! But it didn't feel as friendly as Dart's Farm but we all have bad days. The staff at counters like meat/fish were very pleasant and polite.Recommend checking it out if you're around, they also have a milk and ice-cream vending machine with syrups!
i usually like this place but recently, in my fish and chips, inside of my chips i found a rock. when i say inside of my chips i literally mean, the chip was made around the rock. i am aware that potatoes grow around rocks but i was still shocked to bite down on a rock.
Had breakfast at the restaurant, quick and efficient service. Food to a good standard. Farm shop has a nice variety of options as well as a lot of local produce!
Food pricey for what you get. Had the fish cakes, two medium fish cakes, the rest was just salad £12, ordered a bowl of chips, well !! £3.95 for very very small portionSadly wasn't happy, Nice shop though.
I tell you what, you won't get a better steak than in the onsite restaurant. Even better, 20% off on Thursdays !!!Add to that, fabulous farm shop with fish and butchers counters. And a crate of Greendale ales. Shame I live in Warwickshire, or else I'd be there 2 or 3 times a week.
We decided to have lunch today my husband decided on the pie special chicken and ham pie. It arrived and had obviously been reheated or in the oven too long.. he couldn’t eat it. It was absolutely solid. I had the steak pasty which i was going to get from farm shop. Glad I didn’t, its a steak and vegetable pasty with three pieces of steak, really dry inedible. Maybe I should have stuck with a sandwich. We had looked at the evening menu and we were thinking about giving it a try but after meal at lunchtime will give it a miss.
This farm shop is really well staffed, friendly and efficient. The quality of food and items is also very good. It's probably the most dog friendly farm shop I've ever been so ticks all the boxes. It can't be any less than 5 stars
Went for food. Spoke to three lovely staff. We started inside but they found us space outside when space outside when space became available whilst short staffed. It was very nice and we had great food. This was on 21/05/24
Don’t bother with the cafe. Stood for ages with loads of the staff wondering around and no one wanted to seat us. Eventually one woman found us a seat after standing for a good 15 minutes, sat at the table for 20 minutes waiting for someone to bring us a menu but again nothing, loads of staff but all seem to just potter about not having a clue what they are doing. Gave up and walked out. Don’t bother going to the cafe if you actually want to eat or drink anything 🤣
Lovely setting, nice to see the animals and beautiful view. Food was average and staff slightly dismissive, but didn’t affect our experience. Would visit again but maybe not for food.
This is a must visit place if you are in Devon it’s a foodie’s heaven, the fresh fish 🐠 is the best in Devon the vegetables and butcher’s counter also are superb. 👍👏🚜🇬🇧
I came for breakfast with a friend about 08:15 hrs on 20/03/24, and having heard good things about Greendale, but never visiting, I was looking forward to it. We were shown to an immaculately clean table, being warned not to slip on the nearly mopped floor, and ordered coffees. These were delicious, smooth, well rounded, with excellent bouquet, and we thoroughly enjoyed them.We were asked if we wanted to order, and having asked for five minutes grace, I didn't feel hassled in any way. The young woman who served (dark almost black hair, nose ring (and forgive me if not the correct term, I think it was called a pig ring), late teens/early twenties, polite, friendly, efficient took our order and (me being a little fussy) told her how I would like my eggs. She wasn't fazed at all, and continued to serve with a smile. The time it took our order to arrive wasn't unreasonable, despite it starting to get busy, and I was extremely thankful that the chef had cooked my eggs just as I requested, evidently having the information passed to him/her correctly. The eggs were wonderful! The bacon was thick and flavoursome, the sausage firm and meaty, the additional black pudding smooth, the mushrooms cooked well, and overall the Farmer's Breakfast filled a very large hole, helped by the toast which I buttered with beautiful salty butter. We asked for another coffee, but also a coke, which again was greeted with a smile. Expecting a can of coke to arrive I was pleasantly surprised when a large glass full of cola arrived with copious ice and pieces of lime. It was certainly refreshing! We went to pay, and again (another waitress) served us with a smile, and friendly words, asking if we enjoyed our meal? Enjoyed our meals? They were very lovely, delicious, scrumptious and moreish! And to boot, I thought the price very reasonable.Greendale is clearly successful, and no doubt thriving financially. But this, I believe, is only achievable with a great team. I only witnessed a small part of that team, but I was impressed so much that I will return regularly, either with my friend again, or my family. I had an amazing experience and wanted to share that with you, so you may hear a little bit of what they do at the farm shop restaurant and see a little sunshine. I certainly did! 😍May 2024: Another lovely breakfast, with an amazing waitress!
Staff not organised properly so service confusing. Chips in the restaurant awful but luckily the burger was nice. We do try and keep it local and support the independents but that was our last visit to Greendale, unfortunately.
Wide range of foods from the farm, including high quality fresh fish and meats, and an in-house bakery. Cooked food from the restaurant was excellent. Especially the Sunday roast lunch. The only reason for 4-stars is that some of the staff seemed inexperience and weren't particularly polite, and the toilets were dirty so weren't suitable for young children.Plenty of free car parking. Although the whole farm does get very busy at peak times as it's understandably very popular.
Superb Farm Shop.Came here for the first day on our holiday on 20% off steak night, kids loved it, food was excellent as we're the people and the vibe. Also they had a tasting night, so could taste a load of the locally produced food. Mega.Highly recommended.
This place is always busy and it has a good atmosphere but the service can be erratic and the food, whilst good is, I feel, basic for the price. Avoid the scrambled egg. Mine was dry and dusty.
Very over priced. Fish counter is fantastic. Home made pies , meat option is non existent just vegan or vegetarian very disappointing. Free range eggs selection very basic. No olive oil but every other oil under the sun. Not impressed really for a farm shop, charging a fortune for basic items. I think there's much better places to shop in now. It's gone down hill.
Lovely Farm Shop with great produce.Restaurant serving delicious food on site and a take away fish & chips stand.Great outdoor area perfect for little ones to see animals.
We’ve eaten in the restaurant a couple of times recently and the food is lovely but unfortunately the service is incredibly poor. Each time we’ve been our experience has been ruined by incapable and rude staff, all of which appear to under 20 and have absolutely no customer service skills and have never been provided with any training for the job.
Very poor customer service today. The member of staff ignored me when I was standing waiting to be seated, she advised a 30 mins waiting time, which was okay. I only wanted cake and coffee with my kids. We weren't allowed to be seated in the area... Slightly confused over the whole situation.
Someone like me who loves nature will fall in love with this place. Very peaceful and fresh air. The farm market is incredibly nice, with fresh meat and seafood and organic foods. Apple juice is a must buy item!!
Very nice small farm shop with restaurant and short-order/take-out counter for hamburgers, fish, chicken sandwiches and chips. Live lobsters and crabs available as well as a nice fresh fish counter.
Just up the Rd from my parents place ,we visit when ever we're home. The selection of food available is awsome. So many tasty treats !I even use there online shop to deliver food presents to my family for special occasions. The farm animals are an added bonus and always fun to see.
What a fabulous place! Short drop off the M5 for coffee turned into a day trip 😁Even our teens were happy! Good food, amazing farm shop. Great knowledgeable staff. Jacob on the cheese counter was a joy.
Wow, what a fantastic place. We've been to another local place several times over the years when down in East Devon on holiday, but had this place recommended.Lots of parking spaces, a nice bright and airy shop. The fresh fish and meat counters were incredible. We loved the Isle of Wight Tomatoes, wow they were good.Lots of local cheese, beer, wines and spirits. We found a couple of incredible bottles of wine.Friendly staff who were helpful. The Pork, Stilton and Port Pie was so tasty, and so was the linseed and semolina bread. The carved ham was delicious.Highly recommend.
