Sadly lost it's way 😭I've worked in Lifton for over 20 years, been proud to support Strawberry Fields, but when i walk in now, it feels like it's trying to be M+S.As for the cafe prices?£7 for a glass of orange juice, absolute daylight robbery. So, so sad to see this happen.
The food and service in the restaurant is very good. The shop is well stocked with high quality in house prepared and cooked goods, but you are certainly paying the price nowadays for the quality
Had the roast turkey festive meal AND junket for pudding. Wonderful meal and a real nostalgia trip with the junket. Staff as always really helpful and efficient... thank you James you were very attentive even though the dining room was full .
This farm shop goes to great effort to dress up for the seasons . Gives a person a warm welcome when coming onto the property. The seasonal fayre is very good. There is a book area,,China dry goods ect. Also a large restaurant with a coffee bar. There's a butcher and a bakery which were well stocked. The washrooms were very clean and can accomodate those in whlchairs. There are loads of activities for children and loads of parking. A very good experience over all. If we had to be critical we found the merchandise abit pricey but no more so than other farm shops. The quality of the merchandise is far above the normal supermarket fayre. There are also energy stand points available to charge Yr car while you shop. There are some spectacular views to gaze upon from the restaurant as you are overlooking the moors. A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon aft church.
Excellent restaurant the mains are exceptional and the deserts are huge and just the best. Raspberry Panocha was the best l have had, Lemon meringue sundae and Berry Pavlova, that’s a 10 from me as I got to taste all of them.Friendly and helpful staff and great surroundings.
Had to leave one Star to leave a review reluctantly, save your money and custom for somewhere that doesn't condone foxes being ripped apart alive by dogs because this place welcomes them
Lovely well laid out farm shop but if you are paying £3.95 for a coffee(flat white) it would be good to have any interaction with the staff and for them to know how to make a decent coffee. Lovely setting though
Amazing place. Make sure when you go, you have a couple of hours, and have good restraint. Because you will want to get everything. I'm going back tomorrow.
WASPS WASPS WASPSWow, never have I ever been in a cafe where there have been 20 or more WASPS swarming round us whilst we were trying to eat. This cafe seriously needs to do something.I had a baby with me and a small child.I have never been so stressed trying to eat a piece of cake. The experience was utterly ruined.Do something.
Fantastic food as always, unfortunately they had a wasp problem today outside which could have easily been dealt with by the waitresses who were continuously walking past tables with left over drinks and food. Customers walked away because 6 tables were left dirty and inevitably became a wasp zone. There was no excuse why those tables were not cleared when waitresses walked past them with empty trays. In house waitresses were fab and doing their job.
We visited for the first time at the weekend, and the food hall is amazing! We did have coffee and cake in the restaurant too, but we found it a bit pricey compared to other farm shop cafes. We look forward to revisiting the food hall next time we are passing!
Made a quick stop over on the way back from Cornwall to London. The restaurant is okay for a quick bite. Scones were nice, sausage roll was ok. Lots of seating available indoors. Going by what people on the neighbouring tables ordered, for afternoon tea on an etagere seems to be the most popular option.
Our first visit many moons ago was great. Had our dog with us and got a little spot at the top of the field above the shop to just chill out for the day and enjoy some sunshine and nice food. My partner recently bought tickets to attend the evening events and the week before we went up to visit and find out where we’d be camping (due to my disability this was important as there is no information on the site to help) arrived and found out that they do not allow dogs on site AT ALL so two pups had to stay in the van with me while my partner went to find help from staff. After 45 minutes he came back with zero information because everyone was either too busy to help or didn’t know the answers. We looked on SF Instagram at images of past events and worked out roughly where the event was and knew worse case we would be parked close enough for me to attend. The day before the event my partner became unwell and I wanted to see if SF would either be happy to refund our camping or allow us to come to another night when he’s feeling better.Unfortunately they would not refund and would not simply save our details for a future event. My partner didn’t feel well enough to make the two hour drive so we ended up not attending. Both times now our interaction with staff was not good.
Stopped for a morning coffee. Coffee really average at £3.95 and nothing savoury like a sausage roll to be seen at the cafe area. Disappointing. The shop and produce area was great and we bought a lovely fresh chicken pie and salad to take away for dinner.
It's a wonderful place to shop. Super fresh and partly homemade goods. If you're looking for fresh fruit and vegetables, you've come to the right place! I can only recommend the farm shop to everyone! Prices are also ok.
We booked afternoon tea and it did not disappoint! £25 each with prosecco. The cheese scones literally melted in the mouth. The sausage rolls were so flavoursome and amazing pastry. And even tho in Devon, good to see the scones and cream jam 1st! Haha.We had a walk around the shop, lots of lovely fresh and local products. Then out to the animals outside, pigs, piglets, shetlands, goats and long horns.Ample parking and friendly service. Afternoon tea Menus change regularly so recommend checking their website for most up to date menu
Always great produce, not the cheapest, but the quality is superb. Great place for fresh veg, especially if you like to eat what's in season. Meat is excellent, pork is especially good value and the beef and lamb are excellent. We also love the sausages.
A little pricey but, not excessively so.A very nice Bacon, Brie & Cranberry toastie came with salad and coleslaw.Quite busy/popular on a June Sunday but, service in both the cafe and shop was quick.
Popped in here before getting on the A38 this morning, the guy unloading the van lovely and polite the girl serving coffee not a morning person lol sausage rolls best I’ve ever had and the lattes were good quality too will definitely call again
I broke down here in my old camper van and the staff here could not have been more helpful. They charged my phone a few times and filled my water carrier, it was a long wait! The vegan sausage sandwich was delicious and the restaurant staff were really lovely. In the end I was sad to leave! Also, so refreshing not to have dogs inside the farm shop, such a novel idea!
Amazing farm shop and a great place to stop if in the area. Huge selection of local and imported fruit, veggies and provisions. Soft serve whippy ice cream was disappointing with a tiny serve for the price. Local strawberries were delicious.
Great shop with very good quality products.Staff are always on hand to make recommendations if required.Sausage rolls are very tasty.I pop in nearly every time I pass ( which is a lot).
Bit disappointed with the homemade cakes and homemade jam etc. the list of ingredients on the back is the same as in the supermarkets, so more processed than was expecting. Lovely shop though and restaurant looks nice for Sunday lunch, it finished at 2.30pm but you could get other snacks. Not a bad stop off on the way to or from Cornwall.
We have visited before and been reasonably happy, but this time was really dreadful. We had coffee and we shared a cheese scone. The counter service was unfriendly and perfunctory. The coffee, cappuccino and an americano were almost boiling. The coffee had a burnt taste and we both left most of it. The cheese scone arrived steaming and had been microwaved. It tasted of bicarb and the only evidence of cheese was a few grated shreds on the top. There was only one tap and one hand drier working in the ladies. If there had been a manager available we would have discussed our concerns. I have been to lots of farmshops, but this is the worst experience. How the farmshop won an award is a mystery to me.
The restaurant was quite chaotic during the change over from breakfast to lunch. While waiting for a table, staff came to where diners were promoted to wait for a table without acknowledging that diners were there. The farm shop is well stocked in terms of packaged and chilled goods but the offerings from the bakery were dated: pasties, over sized Belgian buns and cookies etc. There was no vienoisserie and the coffee machine looked underwhelming. This place could be so much better.
Really nice breakfast in a lovely spot. Pleasant attentive staff. Good coffee. Biggest plus is the Pod point fast EV charger outside. (Not on most maps)
Had a fabulous Birthday lunch at Strawberry Fields every member of staff wished me happy birthday and Devon did a great job singing happy birthday at our table with a gorgeously baked lemon drizzle cake the roast was just perfect the staff are such a credit thank you so much
Happy pills needed in coffee shop , not a word spoken on how much , just pointed at card machine , ordered tea and both cups were stained , disappointed as the shop next door are nice and pleasant and only wanting to help .
✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️6 star Roast Dinner.Oh my oh my, best roast dinner I have had for ages!!!! Same quality on two visits Feb/March 2022.(Still brilliant in September 2023, the local roast pork is magnificent.)Tender chicken, fresh veg, and amazing roast potatoes brilliant. Update in June, roast lamb fantastic. Update March 2024 amazing roast pork and a pensioner special as well. Very friendly staff and efficient service, thank you.
Booked a table for breakfast. Seated quickly, orders taken and both food and drink arrived promptly. Friendly staff, fresh good quality produce used for the meal. Well worth a visit.
A brilliant place to eat, and purchase an array of merchandise including fresh meats, cheeses and bread items. An excellent array of fresh produce as well as an excellent restaurant. Lunch hours can be exceptionally busy. Still the food is piping hot and tasty. I had the sausage casserole and mash potato. Really delicious. We returned again and had a Turkey roast followed by a strawberry and cream posset. These were delicious.
First time at Strawberry Fields, it was a nice experience for the kids with lots to see and pumpkins galore. It was annoying having to queue for food and then having to queue for drinks as the different vendors don't sell them so had to wait over 20 minutes.Wellies recommended but you can do it in trainers.
I recommend, the farm is big, there’s strawberries. Lavender, sunflower and little animal area with pigs and small horses. The cafe is descent. The farmshop is good too. Not so fond of the bakery.
Called in several times as a family member lives nearby. The shop is amazing in both the scope of "farm" produce and the quality. Afternoon tea is fabulous and I recently called in twice, on consecutive mornings, for breakfast. Easily the best purchased breakfasts that I have had in a long while. I cannot urge visitors in the area enough, it's a must visit.
Fabulous campervan stopover 😃This is a proper working farm shop. The pigs were right behind our camper in the field, they were sooo lovely!!The food in the shop was beautiful, especially the freshly baked bread. We also bought some of their gorgeous quiche! 😍 😋After our peaceful night's sleep, we enjoyed a fabulous cooked breakfast from the restaurant menu. It's quite a sizeable restaurant with a separate coffee shop as well. All of the staff were so friendly and professional, especially Belinda and Ralph who are featured in the photograph! 😊Thank you for a lovely stay and we'll definitely be back! All the best,Nigel and Claire 🙂
